Teh Wacky™ GOP Up To Their Old Tricks

It's been several days since I posted anything. It's been a busy week -- on a personal level, and on a news/politics level. Since my personal life is at best fairly uninteresting, let's stick to the news and politics.

Where to start? So much has happened in the last week, it seems that the best thing to do is pick one subject and start with that.

Let's go to national news:

On May 26, President Obama announced his pick to replace retiring Justice David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court: Judge Sonia Sotomayor, currently sitting on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

Since the President proclaimed Sotomayor his choice, she has been viciously attacked by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Tom Tancredo... in other words, Teh Wacky™ Wing of the GOP.

Here's a little bit of their typical rhetoric... but spiced, for your pleasure, with a bit of Tom Tancredo's Stupid™ being debunked a bit by CNN's Rick Sanchez and Media Matters' Eric Boehlert:

The GOP hates the idea of an hispanic woman on the Supreme Court, but they can't actually come out and admit to being mysogynistic xenophobes, can they?

Of course not. That's why they resort to Loud Noises like Tom Tancredo.

The fact is, Sonia Sotomayor isn't at all far enough to the left to satisfy many Obama supporters, either. I guess that puts her pretty much where most of America is:

In the center.

I can live with that.
